#BlackLivesMatter Secret Grand Jury-White Police and Prosecutor-Dead Black Men-No Justice
A nearly hourlong police cruiser dashcam video released by the Texas Department of Public Safety on Tuesday begins with Texas State Trooper Brian Encinia conducting what looks to be a routine traffic stop of a vehicle driven 28-year-old Sandra Bland.
Encinia cites Bland for failing to signal a lane change, asks for her license and registration and walks back to his cruiser. Encinia returns about five minutes later with a citation -- which he later reveals to be a written warning.

10 Things You Didn't Know About Martin Luther King Jr.
My heart aches. My anger is front and center. My vulnerability is so loud, it screams.
A year ago Eric Garner was killed by police. Within these last twelve months, there have been more lives added to the number of this "black list' of souls taken from us so quickly by those we are suppose to trust. Recently, two black women were added to this list: Kindra Darnell Chapman and Sandra Bland. Its not as if women have ever been absent from the list of victims of police brutality. We

WASHINGTON -- House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) said on Thursday that there were many people in prison "that really don't need to be there," telling reporters that he wants bipartisan legislation proposing criminal justice system reform to come to the House floor.
"I've long believed that there needed to be reform of our criminal justice system," Boehner said. "Some of these people are in there under what I'll call flimsy reasons."
Boehner made the remarks while stating

How the South Went Republican: Can Democrats Ever Win There Again? (1992)
Claire: Welcome to our first meeting of Emergency Book Club, the book club for literary critics who rarely plan more than three days in advance for seminal publishing events. Here we all are: Three 20-something culture writers who have never read To Kill a Mockingbird. Whew, that was hard to say. Thank heavens we have each other to confide in. If this got out, we’d never work in this town again.
After waking up in a sweaty panic last week, realizing that Go Set a Watchman, Harper Lee’s

Charleston - A history of attacks on black churches in the South
In the wake of the heinous murders of nine members of Charleston's Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church this week, many have pointed to historic congregation's central role in the city's African-American community.
As Clementa Pinckney, the church's pastor and state legislator who was killed in the shooting, told a group of visitors in 2013, "It's a very special place because this site, this area, has been tied to the history and life of African Americans since about the early 1800s."

Southern States have most to lose from bad Supreme Court Obamacare ruling
The U.S. Supreme Court is set to rule by the end of this month in King v. Burwell, a case challenging the legality of health insurance subsidies for low- and middle-income residents of the 34 states that use the federal marketplace under the Affordable Care Act, commonly known as Obamacare. The lawsuit was brought by four residents of Virginia, which is among the states that opted not to set up their own insurance exchanges and instead rely on the federal one.
In all, almost 6.4 million

Lift Every Voice: The Naacp and the Making of the Civil Rights Movement
When Africa is featured in the news, the coverage all too often consists of solely negative images. Content focused on starving children, humanitarian crises, poverty and illness leaves little room for a broader picture of the continent's more than 50 different countries.
In an effort to change that, Africa's diverse nations have taken to Twitter en masse to share images -- ranging from food to fashion to architecture and landscapes. Their photos, posted under the hashtag
